Join us on the 8th November 2020 for our truly memorable Remembrance Day special event with a unique atmosphere. Choose from a trail marathon or 6hr timed event.
We will have an 11am silence marked within the race itself and it would be great to have the entire field taking a slight breather to remember those military personnel who have given their lives over the years in service to our great country. The Last Post will be played live prior to the event start, as we have done in previous years.
UKA certified event, race permit issued by the TRA.
We couldn't decide on one event theme for Cartoon Capers 2020, so we've gone for two! One morning 6hr timed event and one in the afternoon as well! Two events, two bespoke medals! Choose one event or do the double!
This 10.70km multi terrain (but predominantly flat tarmac!) course, starts on the upper promenade at Holland On Sea, taking you along the seafront towards Frinton On Sea. It enters the picturesque Holland Haven country park, with great views across the stunning Country Park and Frinton golf club. At the turn around point there is a short sharp slope before heading back along towards Holland on Sea where you drop down on to the lower promenade to enjoy the views of the sandy beaches, before you head back to the upper promenade towards to the feed station to complete the lap.
Come and join us at Layer Marney Tower for Abbey to Run for Charity @ The Tower, our annual charity event in the heart of Colchester raising money for local charities. Our nominated charity this year is Next Chapter, a domestic abuse charity working across Mid and North Essex, providing free and confidential services to support the most vulnerable women, men and children in our area who are experiencing domestic abuse.
How far will you decide to run on the day, it's entirely up to you in our 6hr timed event! One lap of 5k will gain you legendary status and your well-deserved, bespoke finishers medal and of course your goody bag!
If you fancy joining Rudolph and his friends just before Christmas to bank some pre-festive mileage, why not join us at the 3rd anniversary of our Raynedeer run, a 6hr challenge event and trail marathon at our tried and tested Flitch Way Country Park venue. Stretching for 15 miles through the Essex countryside between Braintree and Bishops Stortford, is The Flitch Way. It is the site of the original Bishops Stortford to Braintree Branch line, a single-track railway, and was opened in 1869 and finally closed in 1969. Nowadays it is an important place for wildlife, and a perfect place for your next running achievement, whatever your chosen distance!
With three distances, this trail event allows you to participate in a 10k, Half Marathon or Marathon on the same day. All distances take in the sights and sounds of the Roman River valley near Colchester, with the marathon crossing the river no more than 8 times!
The route is predominantly hard-packed trail with parts of tarmac and grass footpath sections along the way.
Due to the up and down nature of the river valley, there will be some hills! The half marathon loop, which will be half of the marathon course, will take in the villages to the West of Colchester and the surrounding areas.
Now in its fourth year, why not join us for our Brightlingsea Challenge marathon and 6hr timed event on the Essex coastline. Typically, this brings out the extremes in the weather, with both snow and warm sunshine in the last 2 years!
The undulating but predominantly flat, traffic-free looped trail course, will give you the opportunity to run a marathon or as many or as few laps as you wish, within the time limit of 6 hours. The loops will be 10.54km/6.55m in distance and so you will need to complete 2 laps for a half marathon, 4 laps to cover full marathon distance, and then if you choose to continue, the clock will be your only limiting factor!
